Keeping in mind the Programme EQIUP- in the middle school . It has been realised, that students in primary need to be given more personal attention, and help them complete their minimal level of learning, in order to fair well in the middle school, and in life. Since then, advice and support have been given to teachers through visits paid to schools and discussion of remedial teaching with the teachers involved. Questionnaires have been compiled to collate feedback and opinion on various aspects of remedial teaching, by the school councillor , before beginning the programme.

Pupils have different abilities and styles of learning. Some are better in visual learning while others are more competent in audio learning. Certain pupils have to learn through sense of touch or practical experiences.

Remedial teachers, therefore, should design diversified teaching activities and adopt various teaching methods to help students develop their potential and remove the obstacles in learning.

Objectives

Each pupil is different in terms of:

  1. learning ability

  2.  academic standards

  3. classroom learning

  4.  academic performance

  5. each has his own in learning.

AIM:

The Aim of EQIUP is to provide learning support to pupils who lag far behind their counterparts in school performance. By adapting school curricula and teaching strategies, teachers can provide learning activities and practical experiences to students according to their abilities and needs. They can also design individualized educational programmes with intensive remedial support to help pupils consolidate their basic knowledge in different subjects, master the learning methods, strengthen their confidence and enhance the effectiveness of learning.

Throughout the teaching process, teachers should provide systematic training to develop pupils' like,

  1. Generic skills

  2.  Including interpersonal relationship

  3.  Communication

  4.  Problem-solving

  5.  Self-management

  6.  Self-learning

  7.  Independent thinking

  8.  Creativity

  9.  By using of information technology

Such training can lay the foundation for pupils' life-long learning, help them develop positive attitudes and values, as well as prepare them for future studies and career.

That is what EQIUP is all about!
